Making Apps: Gather Resources
Go To Blog

Gathering resources is important because it will help you build confidence in making game apps and help you fill in gaps in your knowledge. I know the idea of going off into cyber space and doing a crap load of research may not be your cup of tea but it's a necessary part of this process (since you are a beginner). Don't understand how something works? Do a search! Do plenty of online research. Search for terms like "making apps" or "how to make game apps" - you will find lots of free advice out there. You will also find lots of free services such as free sounds and music, free clip art, free cloud based storage for your documents, free advice, free photoshop like programs, etc.

Of particular interest will be blog posts from other game developers that have either had success or had failures. Learning from other's failures will help you avoid pitfalls and plenty of developers are willing to put it out there. Careful not to look at super old stuff either- look for fresher stories, articles and advice because the App store environment changes with every year.

Gather lots of information and start to store your list in a place like Google Drive (a free cloud storage service). It is free and you can acces it from anywhere. Categorize your findings by categories like, "Free Advice: Failures" - "Free Advice: Success" - "Free Resources" - "Low Cost Marketing Services" - "Free and  Low Cost Sounds and Music" - "Free Design Software" -  etc.

I suggest doing as much research as you can because it is valuable to building your knowledge, free and will help you get a fuller grasp on the world of making apps. Also, by gathering your reserch and categorizing it, you can come back to it later when you need it. Lord knows I have relied on my master list for many games to go back to do things like making logos, making icons, finding sounds, etc. Here is just a SAMPLE of the many resources and websites I found when doing my research (literally a small sample list of the hundreds of free and cheap resources I found):
